They talk about the plasticity of the brain and how the fact that focusing on good, happy news can actually make us happier with everyday life and stronger to face problems and challenges, orientated to propose and implement solutions.
So, here are some interesting things I would like to share with you:
1. A blog to follow, Sunday Posts by a fellow educator Supriyo Chauduri, who recently started his entrepreneurial journey in Education, after a long experience in the formal education sector. Truly inspiring and very insightful on diverse topics. His recent post on education and employment is just brilliant. As his mantra at the beginning of his blog says
Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.
- Theodore Roosevelt
2. A new organization that helps educators and institutions to build their online courses, MindTap. A software that can interact with any LMS (Learning management Software) and still let the user customize, play, interact and engage not only with the material but also with each other. Yes, no more money should be put in developing such systems from scratch. There are plenty available ones out there, tested, implemented and made for schools and colleges.
3. An online nursery school, in English and Greece, kidogarten, started by a 28-year-old graduate of a Polytechnic School in Athens, driven by her love for technology and kids. Good luck to the team!
4. Udemy, in the MOOC business, has snatched 12m USD more, so has already raised 16m USD!Apparently, there is still a lot of money out there for investment in education, so we should be expecting loads of innovation as well in the next few months, not to say weeks. This is a quote from their press release
Udemy, the leading online education marketplace, today announced the completion of a $12 million Series B financing round led by Insight Venture Partners, with additional support from existing investors Lightbank and MHS Capital , bringing Udemy’s total funding to $16 million The new capital will be used primarily for expanding the range and types of Udemy’s content offerings as well as extending the content catalog across new platforms.
Have a great week!
